That is right, keep on creating. Artists are a strange breed, we work in solitary at most times. In the studio we create worlds or images, that others often wonder as to where they came from. Artists are studying everything, as they see it and perceive how it would look in a painting or drawing. Most of my paintings/drawings are of historical buildings or structures that are nearby, or I have been to during an event or outing. Some of my landscapes are from my long walks with my wife and our dog. Yet in my 66 years of creating art, I’m still seeing, perceiving, drawing, painting and creating. Yes I’m creating, not as fast as when I was in college or in the advertising world (deadlines were brutal), but I’m creating.
I still do several paintings using black & white watercolor only. I apply the paint using a variety of natural sea sponges using my left hand and start to blend the paint on the paper or in a separate pallet to get the variations of grey.
I then take a brush to create the trees, but most of the work is done using sponges. This method is therapeutic and allows me to keep my creative energies flowing. At the same time I am STILL CREATING.
